The Garage Makerspace

What's The Garage Makerspace?

Think of it like a gym for making things.

At a gym, people do not join only because they are new to fitness. They stay because the shared space gives them access to equipment, instruction, variety, motivation, and a community they could not easily recreate at home.

The Garage will bring that same idea to hands-on creativity.

It is a makerspace in development for Sioux Falls where people will be able to access shared tools, advanced equipment, creative workspace, hands-on classes, and a community built around learning by doing.

You might come in to try a new hobby for the first time and stay because your skills grow, your projects get more ambitious, and you want access to equipment, ideas, and people that help you keep going.

Most importantly, The Garage is being designed to make creativity social again. A place where people can hang out, work on different projects, learn from each other, share ideas, and feel connected through the act of making something real.

Why it matters

A lot of people want to try new creative hobbies to design, build and experiment.

Tools are expensive. Equipment takes up space. Some hobbies are hard to learn alone. And for many people, building the perfect workshop at home is not realistic. Even if they can afford it - why build alone when you could be in a vibrant creative community?

The Garage is being designed to make hands-on hobbies more accessible. You can try something new, build your skills, and work on real projects without needing to buy every tool, clear out your garage, or figure it all out by yourself.

Built for exploration, not intimidation

The Garage is for all skill levels.

It is for people who are curious, hands-on, and interested in trying something new. Some may want to build furniture, learn welding, explore textiles, use digital fabrication tools, or take project-based classes. Others may come for community events, skill-building, or space to work on a side project.

The goal is simple: make it easier to start, easier to learn, and easier to keep creating.
